Rates

At Perry Air we offer a multitude of different prices for our services. Below we have outlined the specific cost.

How Does Flight Training Work?

For flight training you’ll need to rent an aircraft and instructor so in order to calculate the cost to learn how to fly you’ll take the instructor rate ($60 per hour) and the aircraft rate ($134 per hour). The FAA requires minimum hours for each rating so the price of flight training will determine how many hours it takes you to be proficient in the aircraft toward the desired rating. For example, for a Private Pilot Certificate the FAA requires a minimum of 40 flight hours in order to take the check ride with an examiner. The national average is between 55 and 70 hours; however, our average at Perry Air is 50. Also consider that you’ll be flying at least 10 hours solo (without an instructor) so the instructor rate does not apply to those flight hours. And on the flip side, you will be required to have some ground training along the way, and that will be billed at the instructor rate.

Flight training can be expensive, and this contributes mostly to the cost of the aircraft rental. Training aircrafts tend to burn less fuel then most aircrafts, however an average fuel burn is around 9 gallons per hour and the national average for aircraft fuel (100LL) is $4.73 per gallon. Also, training aircrafts are required by the FAA to undergo extensive additional maintenance which includes a 100 hour inspection. Every 100 hours our aircrafts undergo 2 day inspections by licensed Aircraft & Power Plant Mechanics (A&P).

Terms & Conditions

Our flight school is part 61. Whether you are a student on your first lesson or a licensed pilot, aircraft rental works the same way. The aircraft rate is charged based on the “Hobbs Meter” in the aircraft that records the operational time of the aircraft in tenths of an hour.  All rental rates are “wet rates” meaning the price includes fuel. We do offer “dry rates’ which do not include fuel in the event someone rents the aircraft for longer than normal periods.
All pilots wanting to rent require a checkout by a Perry Air LLC flight instructor in order to rent the aircraft solo. If you are a student, the check out process occurs through your flight training. A licensed pilot will require a checkout which normally includes a brief discussion reviewing systems and the POH as well as a flight check to ACS standards.

Once the pilot is checked out, they can easily schedule flights on our online scheduler.
